Fan Ling to Tsuen Wan via Tai Mo Shan
We took advantage of the cooler weather in Hong Kong for a longer hiking adventure, starting at Fan Ling MTR station and heading up Wu Tip Shan. The peak, at about 250 meters, offers great views of the northern New Territories.
Distance - 24km | Duration - 5 hours
From Exit B, we crossed the street, following the sign for Wu Tip Shan. We climbed a series of steps to reach the summit and continued to Tai To Yan, which has two peaks: the main peak in the south and the secondary one, Pak Tai To Yan, both resembling knife blades.
The terrain consists of gravel slopes, wooden steps, and large stone steps. We followed the signs to Lam Kam Road and ascended the Ng Tung Chai path, known for its waterfalls, though we opted to take the stone steps instead.
After reaching a wooden pavilion at a fork in Maclehose Trail Section 8, we followed the paved road to the Tai Mo Shan Radar Station, enjoying the landscape along the way. We exited at Tai Mo Shan Family Walk and headed down to Rotary Park Nature trail and continued to hike down via the Shing Mun Catch Water to the MTR station.
This hike can be challenging, so be prepared with plenty of water, snacks, extra clothing, and comfortable hiking shoes.
