East Dog Teeth - Nov 2020

As its name suggests, the Dog Teeth Range looks like dog teeth in term of shape and sharpness. One should take great care in attempting the trail.

Compared to Middle and West Dog Teeth, East Dog Teeth lures fewer visitors and this is the easiest among those three ridges. One of the reason is the lower portion of the trail is very obscure and is covered in a forest. Finding the right way would be pretty challenging. However, the middle and upper portion of the trail is open.

Drop off at Shui Hau Village East and walk towards Lantau Trail Section 10.
After 1km hike, you’ll reach catchwater and turn right you will see a signage “Shui Hau Picnic Site” walk straight about 200m you’ll see a small bridge connecting to the other side.
The starting point of the East Dog Teeth Ridge is with written sign and arrow pointing towards it, you’ll see ribbon that indicate the pathway. This will be the forest part of the trail.
After a few 2-3km hike, you’ll be in an open area, and you’ll see the Middle Dog Teeth Ridge and top of the East Dog Teeth. You’ll see the view of Shui Hau Village and South Lantau.
Once you’ve reach the top, you will need to go to the junction that connecting the Middle Dog Teeth and East Dog Teeth. You then need to hike the challenging Kau Nga Ling, Life Line to Hade’s Wall.
Either you can head down to Ngong Ping via Wisdom Path or continue hiking Lantau Peak and head down to Pak Kung Au.

Difficulty: Hard (4/5)

Time: 2-3hours to Ngong Ping , 3-4 hours to Pa Kung Au (not including rest and picture taking)

Distance Post: Lantau Trail Section 10 L100 (Shui Hau start point) - L027 (Ngong Ping) Lantau Trail Section 3 or L018 (Pak Kung Au)

Supply: No supply station along the trail, make sure to bring enough snacks and refreshments. Bring a pair of gloves.

How to get there:

From Mui Wo : Take the ferry to Mui Wo from Central (Pier 6) Take bus no. 1 and drop off at Shui Hau Village East Police Station. Walk to Lantau Trail Section 10 start point

From Tung Chung: Tung Chung Station walk towards Lantau bus station, take bus no.11 or 23. Drop off at Shui Hau Village East and walk to Lantau Trail Section 10.
