Sha Tau Kok to Lin Ma Hang via Robin's Nest Country Trail and Lin Ma Hang Country Trail

Our adventure began at Sheung Shui MTR Station, heading to the bus terminal at Exit A2. We took the Green minibus route 55K and got off at Tam Shui Hang Bus Stop, near the restricted area of Sha Tau Kok.
Distance - 9.5km
Duration - 5 hours
Difficulty - 3.5/5
Intermediate to Advanced
We walked along Sha Tau Kok Road to Shan Tsui Village Road, easily following the signs to the country park. As we walked uphill on the Robin's Nest Country Trail, we reached Ah Kung Kok, which offered stunning views of Sha Tau Kok and Shenzhen Yantian. Continuing our trek, we followed the ridge to Hung Fa Chai, enjoying the peaceful sights of Luk Keng to the east.
At the viewpoint, we admired Pak Sin Leng and Wong Leng before continuing along the Robin’s Nest Country Trail to the junction with the Lin Man Hang Country Trail.
We proceed on the Lin Ma Hang Trail before a quick trip to Robin’s Nest.
The trail runs close by, so we decided to take a little detour for the stunning views. Reaching the summit is easy if you follow the path, although some are manageable rocky sections.
At the top, you can enjoy a stunning 360-degree view of half of Hong Kong and mainland China. After enjoying the scenery, retrace your steps back onto the Lin Ma Hang Country Trail to keep going.
Continue along the Lin Ma Hang Country Trail until you reach checkpoint 6: Lin Ma Hang Lead Mine Cave. Lin Ma Hang Lead Mine has now been reinforced and stabilised and reopened as an open museum dedicated to Hong Kong’s mining history and local biodiversity.
Sections in the lead mine cave has now been properly maintained, in addition, a viewing point has been set for visitors to take rest and enjoy the surroundings.
After exploring the caves, head back up towards the Lin Ma Hang County Trail to continue to the village. As you head down, you'll encounter several sets of stairs that lead you to the Kong Shan MacIntosh Fort. Keep descending a bit more until you arrive at Lin Ma Hang Village.
Finally, when you reach Lin Ma Hang Village locate the sign for minibus 59K to take you back to Sheung Shui MTR Station.
This hike offers enjoyable views, but be cautious of restricted areas and stay on the trail. Bring at least 2 liters of water and some snacks. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and proper apparel. Be sure to bring a hat and arm protection sleeves, as certain sections of the trail are quite exposed to the sun.
